Jasper vs Writesonic vs ChatGPT Plus
A draft comparison of Jasper, Writesonic, and ChatGPT Plus for freelancers deciding which writing subscription matches the work they actually sell.
Draft · Updated September 25, 2026 · 3 min read
Draft. This is a buying framework. A hands-on test would name the dates and the work. Pricing and plan names need a check on the vendor site before you purchase.

Writesonic
Marketing drafts plus AI-search visibility features on higher plans.

ChatGPT Plus
A general writing assistant. SoloStack does not treat this as an affiliate product.
SoloStack may earn a commission if a tracked Jasper or Writesonic link is connected and you buy. The ChatGPT Plus link in this draft goes to the vendor and is not an affiliate link. Nothing here is a hands-on lab report.
These three get lumped together as “AI writers.” They are selling different jobs.
The job, in one line each
Jasper is a marketing workspace: brand voice, campaigns, and team features wrapped around a writing model. Writesonic, in its current public packaging, mixes article generation with AI-search visibility (often called GEO) and meters how many articles a plan includes. ChatGPT Plus is a general assistant with a widely published price around $20 a month.
If your offer is “I will write the blog post,” Plus plus your own process is usually the honest start. If a client wants a shared voice across a site, ads, and email, Jasper is the product that talks about that problem. If you are being asked how a brand shows up inside AI answers, Writesonic’s current pitch is closer to that question than to a classic blog generator.
| Jasper | Writesonic | ChatGPT Plus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public pitch | Brand and campaign workflows | Articles plus AI-search visibility | General writing and reasoning |
| Typical buyer | Marketing teams, agencies | SEO and content marketers | Anyone, including freelancers |
| Draft price note | Often above a $50 solo cap | Entry plans often above $50 | About $20 a month |
| SoloStack link | Placeholder | Placeholder | Official pricing |

Jasper
Choose Jasper when the deliverable is a system: a voice document, a set of campaign briefs, and more than one person in the tool. The published product emphasizes brand voice and marketing templates. A freelancer with a single client who wants “on brand” posts can use it. A freelancer with five unrelated clients may spend more time maintaining voices than writing.
Jasper is a weak fit when you need a cheap first draft of mixed work: proposals, documentation, and the occasional blog. You would be paying for a marketing suite and using a slice of it.
Writesonic
Choose Writesonic when the assignment is search content and the client also asks about visibility in AI answers. Read the metering. A plan that includes a fixed number of articles a month changes the math for a freelancer who bills per post. If the included volume is below your actual output, the upgrade path matters more than the entry price.
Writesonic is a weak fit as a general daily assistant. That is the ChatGPT Plus job, at a lower published price, without an article quota.
ChatGPT Plus
Choose Plus when the work changes every week. Bring your own outline, sources, and voice sample. Use it to draft, cut, and argue with a paragraph. Keep client secrets out of the chat unless your agreement and the vendor’s data terms allow it. That last point is a contract question, and this guide does not answer it for you.
Plus will not score a draft against a SERP. Pair it with a human outline, or with an optimizer from the Surfer vs Frase guide, when search coverage is the thing the client is buying.
Overlap you can skip
Owning all three is how a solo stack gets expensive without getting clearer. A workable split:
- Plus for daily drafting.
- One of Jasper or Writesonic if a specific client’s workflow demands it.
- Cancel the specialty tool when that client leaves.
What this draft leaves out
No side-by-side writing samples, no measured time saved, and no claim that one model “wins.” The useful difference is packaging: team voice, metered articles plus AI-search tracking, or a general assistant. Match the package to the invoice you send.
